(CAYMAN ISLANDS TRUST, STAR & INTERNATIONAL SUCCESSION)
Cayman Islands Trust
A Cayman Islands Trust is a sophisticated common-law structure for international succession, estate planning, family governance and commercial or purpose-based arrangements. The STAR regime can combine beneficiaries and lawful purposes under an enforcer-led model. Wealth Web coordinates professional trustee onboarding, STAR design and optional Cayman company or banking support, with pricing available on application.
(CAYMAN ISLANDS TRUST & STAR OVERVIEW)
A credible, compliant trust structure for international wealth planning
A Cayman Islands Trust is governed principally by the Trusts Act. STAR is incorporated into Part VIII as a specialist alternative regime for succession, dynasty, purpose and commercial trust arrangements.Under STAR, a designated trustee can hold qualifying shares in a Cayman Islands Business Company without the ordinary duty to monitor management or diversify the holding. Directors continue to run the company, while enforcer and governance provisions can govern appointments, removals and succession.Cayman is not Wealth Webâs preferred jurisdiction for adversarial commercial-creditor protection. Where that is the primary objective, compare the Cook Islands Trust and Nevis Trust.
Governing law

(CAYMAN ISLANDS TRUST & STAR GUIDE)
Understanding the Cayman Islands Trust and STAR structure
Standard trust or STAR
A standard Cayman Trust supports conventional beneficiary planning. STAR is a specialist regime for persons, lawful purposes or a combination of both.
Persons, purposes or both
The trust deed identifies the people who may benefit, the purposes to be advanced, or both, together with the rules for applying trust property.
An enforcer holds standing
In a STAR Trust, enforcement standing rests with the appointed enforcer rather than arising automatically from beneficiary status.
Cayman trust corporation
A STAR Trust must have, or include, a qualifying Cayman trust corporation that maintains the required Cayman records and administers the deed.
Defined involvement can continue
The deed may reserve or grant powers involving investments, beneficiaries, trustees, protectors, amendments or governing law, subject to careful drafting.
Indefinite duration is available
STAR Trusts can continue indefinitely. Current perpetuities law also allows qualifying ordinary dispositions to disapply the perpetuity rule.
Important: Cayman is designed for sophisticated succession, purpose and institutional planning, not as a substitute for a purpose-built commercial-creditor structure. Compare the Cook Islands Trust and Nevis Trust where adversarial asset protection is the primary objective. Official sources include the Cayman Islands Trusts Act and the Perpetuities Act.
(WHY CLIENTS CHOOSE WEALTH WEB)
Cayman Islands Trust coordination with cross-jurisdiction perspective

Jurisdiction fit before formation
We compare a standard Cayman Trust, STAR and purpose-built asset-protection jurisdictions before recommending a structure, so sophisticated succession planning is not confused with commercial-creditor defence.

Pricing confirmed on application
Formation scope and fees are set out before work begins, with trustee charges, third-party costs and ongoing administration explained during onboarding.

Where STAR, a Cayman company, banking, brokerage or another jurisdiction is required, we coordinate the wider structure through one point of contact.
STAR and enforcer design
We coordinate the STAR objects, enforcer appointment, reserved powers and long-term governance provisions with the trustee and legal specialists where required.
(WHO MAY CONSIDER A CAYMAN ISLANDS TRUST?)
A strong fit for dynasty, purpose and international wealth planning
A Cayman Islands Trust may suit international families, family offices, founders and institutions seeking sophisticated succession, dynasty, commercial or purpose-based planning. STAR is especially relevant where the structure must combine beneficiaries with lawful purposes or allocate enforcement to an appointed enforcer. For known or anticipated commercial-creditor claims, compare the Cook Islands or Nevis before choosing Cayman.
STAR flexibility and institutional planning
Cayman is most compelling for sophisticated succession, dynasty, purpose and commercial trust arrangements that benefit from an established institutional fiduciary sector.
Not Wealth Web’s first choice for adversarial creditor claims
Cayman offers sophisticated trust law, reserved powers and foreign-element rules, but it is not designed around the specialist commercial-creditor barriers of the Cook Islands or Nevis.
